Hyde Leadership Public Charter School’s Elementary Division serves children in Pre-K, Kindergarten and students in first grade through fifth grade.  An after-school care program (from 3:15-6:00 p.m.) is available to families with students in the Elementary School.  There is a modest fee that is based on family income.

The Elementary School division is specifically designed to inspire and develop character within our students as well as to establish a strong academic/educational foundation through a researched and standards-based curriculum.  Our broader goal is to instill skills and values that will support and propel all students as they encounter both academic and social challenges. Our population includes students from across the city with diverse learning needs, which includes children who have been identified as in need of Special Education services.

We set high standards and expectations for the school community and believe that all children can achieve excellence.  Hyde-DC Elementary School staff is chosen on this premise. Additionally, our teachers and staff are selected for their dedication to education and commitment to character development of children and themselves. Our teaching staff has an average of five years of classroom experience and our heterogeneously grouped classes (grades 1 through 5) have a student/teacher ratio of 22:1.  The kindergarten ratio is 20:2.
