Hyde Leadership Public Charter School seeks dynamic, experienced, collaborative-minded, results-oriented and data-driven teachers who are interested in working with us to achieve this goal. We will convene in our newly renovated, state-of-the-art, modernized Pre-K-12 facility in August 2010. Our goal is to become one of the premier educational institutions in the country!

We will continue to emphasize academic rigor, as well as to elevate character development and family renewal. We are looking for individuals who espouse these values and are willing to work hard to help us grow our character program.

We seek candidates who:

  • At minimum are Highly Qualified as outlined by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) for the District of Columbia. In order to be categorized Highly Qualified at the secondary level, your degree must be in the core subject area you wish to teach or you must have passed the core subject area content portion of the Praxis II series. For Elementary School, grades K-5th, you must pass the Elementary Education content portion of Praxis II (10014).
  • Have knowledge of District of Columbia Public School (DCPS) standards and/or standards-based instruction
  • Have superb classroom management skills
  • For Pre-K – 8th grades, have a minimum of five years' experience at the Elementary and/or Middle School levels and
  • For grades 9-12, have a degree in the core subject area in which you wish to teach. An advanced degree in the proposed subject area is preferred.

DC teacher certification is a plus! Experience with interactive whiteboards and other instructional technologies is a plus. All candidates will conduct a demo lesson.

Note: In accordance with the federal No Child Left Behind regulations, all teaching candidates must already meet “highly qualified” teacher requirements before being hired for teaching positions. For teachers in D.C. charter schools, this means at least a bachelor’s degree in your teaching area (for secondary teachers) and successful completion of elementary Praxis II exams for elementary teachers. Formal certification is preferred, but not required.
